Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill defensive back Mike Bell (6-2, 180), was the star of the Passing Down Best of the West 7v7 this past weekend.

Bell earned MVP honors after helping Ground Zero win the tournament, thanks to a big day in the secondary, including a crucial deflection for a pick six that helped them win their semifinal matchup.

It's been like that all spring for Bell, who's closing in on his first offer.

"I think San Jose State and San Diego State seem to be the closest right now," said Bell.

Bell plans to do a number of camps in the spring and summer too.

"I'll camp at USC, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Cal, San Jose State and San Diego State," said Bell.

Bell attended the UCLA-Nevada game last year and has visited USC this spring.

A number of schools came by Citrus Hill and more are expected this spring.

"Last week we had Fresno State, Arizona, San Diego State, San Jose State and Wyoming," said Bell.

Bell has a lot of versatility and much of his attention is coming as a general defensive back, rather than a specific role.

"Schools like me as a DB in general, either corner or safety. I can play both and I love both positions," said Bell.

Bell made the biggest impression this past weekend, in a spring full of strong showings.

"It feels good to win the MVP but really the whole tournament," said Bell. "We worked hard and it's just a great feeling.
