UCLA offensive guard Xavier Su'a-Filo was selected with the first pick of the second round of the NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, making him UCLA's first lineman drafted higher than the sixth round since Kris Farris.

Su'a-Filo started at left guard for the Bruins for the last two years after taking a two year absence to serve his Mormon mission. He is a versatile lineman, showing the ability over his years at UCLA to play both guard and tackle, and his athleticism should serve the Texans well.

Su'a-Filo joins Anthony Barr as the first two Bruins selected in the 2014 draft. Barr was selected with the 9th overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings. Bruins Shaquelle Evans, Jordan Zumwalt, Cassius Marsh, and others still await news on whether they'll be continuing their football careers in the professional ranks.

Su'a-Filo was an early entry, forgoing his final year of eligibility to enter the draft. The move appears to be a good one, as he was the first guard taken overall, and should see early playing time.
