West Recruiting Notebook

A look at the latest news and notes from out West in this week's notebook...

More Quarterback Dominoes

Texas went into New Mexico for four-star quarterback Zach Gentry.

Seven classes ago, Oklahoma went to New Mexico to find its quarterback of the future.

And Landry Jones turned out to be a productive passer for the Sooners. Very productive, in fact.

Seven years later, the Sooners' Red River Rivalry counterpart, Texas, went to The Land of Enchantment to find a signal-caller of their own.

On Monday, Albuquerque (N.M.) Eldorado four-star Zach Gentry committed to Texas.

The Horns picked up their third commitment from the West region in the last couple of weeks, with Gentry joining the Johnson brothers, Collin and Kirk, from San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian.

Gentry is the No. 18 ranked quarterback in the country by Scout.com.
