UCLA in Walker's Top 8

2015 four-star Santa Maria (Calif.) Righetti small forward Cameron Walker has narrowed his list to a top eight, but doesn't yet have plans to take visits...

Four-star small forward Cameron Walker had a lot on his plate this weekend at the adidas Gauntlet in Indianapolis. The 6-foot-6 wing had to carry the load for the Compton Magic, and he showed quite well for himself.

"I think I am playing alright," said Walker. "As a team we aren't doing so well, but hopefully we will pick it up soon."

In a dominant showing against Game Elite, Walker played point guard in the absence of Sedrick Barefield, and proved he can be effective as a playmaker.

"We didn't have Sedrick so I had to step in and play point guard and that is something I do with my high school team," said Walker. "I am comfortable with it and I was just trying to do my job."

Recruiting wise eight schools remain in the mix for Walker.

"I am down to a top eight of UCLA, Florida, Harvard, San Diego State, Stanford, California, Arizona State, and Colorado," noted Walker. "I narrowed it down and those are the schools recruiting me the hardest."

At this point nothing else is set beyond that, but Walker is currently trying to gain even more information on his finalists.

"I don't have any visits lined up," explained Walker. "After July comes I will probably narrow it down further and set up my visits then."

In terms of what he is looking for in a school, relationships are going to be extremely important.

"It is going to be my relationship with the coaches, especially the head coach," said Walker. "I am a big academic guy so it is a school that has to be good academic school as well."

For now Walker is focused on helping Compton Magic turn things around this spring, and continues to work on refining his game and showing improvement in all aspects.
