More Invites to The Opening and Elite 11

Nearly a dozen invitations went out last weekend for The Opening and the Elite 11 to West Coast prospects.

Corona (Calif.) Santiago quarterback Blake Barnett, a commit to Notre Dame and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco quarterback Josh Rosen, a commit to UCLA, had already been invited to the Elite 11 Finals and The Opening after winning MVP honors at the Los Angeles Elite 11 (Barnett) and Los Angeles NFTC (Rosen).

In Oakland, San Clemente (Calif.) quarterback Sam Darnold, Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle quarterback Brian Lewerke (Michigan State commit), Newhall (Calif.) Hart quarterback Brady White (Arizona State) and Anaheim (Calif.) Servite quarterback Travis Waller all earned invitations based on their performances at the Oakland tryout.

On Sunday, six more Western prospects earned Golden Tickets to The Opening.

NorCal, SoCal and Hawaii each had a pair of players invited from the Oakland NFTC.

Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou offensive lineman Semisi Uluave and Honolulu (Hawaii) Farrington defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko earned invitations, joining fellow Hawaiian Fred Ulu-Perry from St. Louis in Honolulu, who was invited after the Los Angeles NFTC.

Newhall (Calif.) Hart receiver Trent Irwin and Encino (Calif.) Crespi safety Marvell Tell made the trip to Oakland from the Southland and were rewarded with invitations.

And Concord (Calif.) De La Salle defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie, the star of the Oakland NFTC and Pleasanton (Calif.) Foothill cornerback Isaiah Langley rounded out the six invited and represented Northern California with their invitations.

  • On the heels of his MVP performance at the Oakland NFTC, Concord (Calif.) De La Salle defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie named his top 12, in order. McKenzie tweeted his top 12 of: 1) Tennessee, 2) Arizona, 3) USC, 4) Wisconsin, 5) Oklahoma, 6) UCLA, 7) Miami, 8) Alabama, 9) Ohio State, 10) Florida, 11) Oregon, 12) Texas Tech

    Tagaloa was on the initial Scout 100 watch list for 2016, and has been a four-star since the end of his freshman year, so he's already been a known quantity. But this last week saw him add two more SEC offers, from Florida and Missouri as well as another from the Pac-12 from Utah.

  • Arizona Western College safety Paul Magloire committed to Arizona.
  • Cerritos (Calif.) College receiver Tonny Lindsey committed to Utah State.
  • Arizona Western College running back Dami Ayoola committed to Arizona.
  • Oakland (Calif.) Laney College deensive end Eddie Heard committed to Missouri.

  • Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde quarterback Sheriron Jones was offered by Maryland.

  • Anaheim (Calif.) Servite quarterback Travis Waller was offered by Maryland.
