Bruins Make Kirk's Top Ten

UCLA makes the cut for the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro receiver, Christian Kirk...

From 37 to 10.

37 is the current number of division-one scholarship offers for Scottsdale (Az.) Saguaro WR/DB Christian Kirk.

Kirk has been hauling in offers since his freshman year of high school and when the smoke cleared he had been offered by Utah, Missouri, San Diego State, Arkansas, Auburn, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Penn State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Boise State, Florida, Oregon, Texas, Miami, USC, Stanford, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Washington, Nevada, Oklahoma, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Cal, Wisconsin, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA.

Kirk announced today that he made his first round of cuts and has narrowed his list to the following ten schools:

In no order. Stanford, Auburn, Tennessee, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas A&M, Arizona State, USC and UCLA.

Kirk comments, "I am very blessed to be in this situation and narrowing my list was very tough. There were about 17-20 schools that were recruiting me very hard. A lot came by Spring Ball and tried to make a push but I feel like these ten schools were just a few steps ahead of the others."

He breaks down each school for us:

UCLA- "They were my first offer and Coach Mazzone has been on me. Jalen Ortiz is a close friend of mine and he has really given me positive feedback. When I visited there it really had an 'at home' feeling."

Stanford- "I have always been high on them since Coach Mason was recruiting me but when he left, Coach Shaw and I have started talking a lot. With them, it is really about the education. I plan on graduating high school early and Stanford does not take early enrollees right now. They are trying to work it out but it also may be a case where I do not graduate early if I choose Stanford."

Auburn- "I had a great visit, it was one of the best on my recent trip. Coach Malzahn was with me on the entire trip and showed me how I fit in their offense."

Tennessee- "They seem very family oriented. They have also had some great players and have a great tradition. They are as very good academically."

Ohio State- "I visited there in February and I have a really good relationship with Coach Smith, the receiver's coach. They are probably recruiting me the hardest."

Oklahoma- "It really meant a lot that Coach Stoops was able to come out and see me in one of their off weeks. They also have a great tradition at wide receiver."

Georgia- "They were my first stop of the SEC schools I went to. I really like what Coach Bobo does with the offense and their tradition of getting guys to the next level."

Texas A&M- "They have been recruiting very hard from very early on. I tagged along with Kyle Allen when he visited, before they offered me. Even then, they showed me a lot of love. Coach Sumlin came out to one of my games last year and he seems like a family guy. I have never heard anything negative about him."

Arizona State- "They were my second offer and have recruited me very hard. Plus Tyler Whiley is there and he is one of my best friends. Coach Norvell has shown me how he plans on getting me the ball and how I fit in their offense. Plus if I stayed home I would get to play in front of all of my friends and family."

USC- "I really like Coach Sark and Coach Martin. Seeing what Coach Martin has done with his receivers impresses me. They have had three freshman All-Americans in Robert Woods, Marquise Lee and Nelson Aguilar and that is one of my goals."

Kirk thinks he will narrow his list down to five schools prior to his senior year.

Kirk is currently the #4 wide receiver and #35 player overall in the 2015 class.

Kirk had an outstanding junior year. He caught 65 passes for 1,164 and 17 TDs. He carried the ball 77 times for 825 yards and 13 TDs. He threw 2 TDs as a QB yards and made 50 tackles and 2 INTs on defense as well as being an excellent returner.
