Fortune Hoping for Good Camp

Etiwanda (Calif.) defensive lineman DeShawn Fortune (6-0.5, 275) has been diligently doing the camp circuit all spring.

After making the all-Surprise team at the Los Angeles NFTC, Fortune has also camped with Washington, Washington State, Oregon State and Portland State as well as the B2G Elite Camp.

Here was our spring scouting report on Fortune: He could grow into a defensive tackle, but was terrific on the edge. He showed a variety of pass rush moves, did a good job disengaging quickly from his blockers and was quick off the snap, winning just about every rep he took.

This weekend, he'll camp with San Jose State and UCLA.

"I'm going to the Big Man Elite Camp at UCLA on Sunday and I'm really looking forward to it," said Fortune. "It's a good chance for me and if I do well, I think that will help."

Fortune said he's been talking with the Bruin coaches regularly.

"Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) is recruiting me but I also talk with Coach Angus (McClure) through Facebook," said Fortune. "Coach Meat came by the school in May. It would be great if UCLA offered. They're one of my dream schools."

San Jose State and Weber State have offered Fortune and Pac-12 schools aside from UCLA talk regularly with him.

"I've been talking with Arizona and Oregon State mainly and Washington State some," said Fortune.

Fortune can play inside or outside and said he's ok with either one.

"I could play either spot, tackle or end, I just want to play," said Fortune.

Academically, Fortune said he's all set to qualify.
