Wade Excited By UCLA Offer

Santa Margarita (Calif.) defensive end Rick Wade earned an offer from UCLA after his performance at the Elite Camp on Wednesday, and he says the offer immediately vaults UCLA to the top of his list...

Rick Wade has had a great spring with scholarship offers flying in from all over. Oregon was his most recent offer and UCLA jumped in on Thursday after an impressive camp showing.

"This is a big offer for me, I like UCLA a lot," Wade said. "The camp was fun and I enjoyed working with Coach McClure. I thought I did well and it was very exciting to get that offer. It definitely moves UCLA to the top of my list."

Wade measured in at 6-5, 231 pounds after playing his junior season at 215. He has a terrific frame and will easily be able to handle another 25 pounds or so without losing any of his athleticism.

He has long arms, is very strong and plays with an edge to him. He's strong at the point and should develop in to a very good pass rusher. When you look at his growth potential and physicality, Wade definitely has a very nice upside to him.

Could the offer push Wade to make an early commitment?

"I do plan to make a commitment in the summer sometime before school starts," Wade said. "I still want to take my official visits but I know we can't take them until the fall so I need to figure that out.

"UCLA feels like home to me though and I'm very comfortable there. I know things could change but UCLA is a great spot for me and I'm definitely thinking about making it my home. We'll see though, I need to think this over a little, the offer just came today but it definitely means a lot to me."
