”I love it out here. The weather is so different,” McCloud said. “Everything is good well. I think tomorrow I will be playing some defense.”
It’s McCloud’s second trip out to the West Coast in the last few weeks. He visited UCLA and USC late last month.
”That was a great trip for me and a new experience,” McCloud said. “It was fun. I love the coaches at both schools.”
One of the teams McCloud is very high on at the moment is the Bruins. He wants to get back out to L.A. and see UCLA once again.
”I was there for one night and didn’t get to really experience everything,” McCloud said. “An OV [official visit] would take care of that. I love the coaches and the academics are off the charts.”
Following his trip to see UCLA and USC, McCloud flew across the country to visit Maryland. There, he was with his Tampa buddies George Campbell (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake), Ryan Davis (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) and Byron Cowart (Seffner, Fla./Armwood).
”That was another good visit,” McCloud said. “It’s another place that was just different. We spent two nights there and had a great time. Coach [Mike] Locksley is recruiting me. He’s a great guy. I like those coaches a lot.”
McCloud’s plan is to announce his college choice on July 28th. Some of his finalists are Florida, Clemson, USF, Maryland, South Carolina, UCLA, North Carolina and Miami. Florida and South Florida are are two teams that are high on his list.
“Those are two programs with great coaches,” McCloud said. “USF brought in a great class and they are doing it again with this class. With Florida I love coach [Will] Muschamp and T-Rob. They are great people and it’s the SEC. Both of those schools have really good programs and the coaches are great.”
Many feel Clemson could ultimately be the team to beat. He’s an ideal fit in their scheme and his good friend, Deon Cain (Tampa Bay Tech) recently committed to the Tigers.
”We are very close,” Cain said. “He’s like a brother. He doesn’t put any pressure on me and knows I have to make my decision.”
Between now and his decision day McCloud does have at least one more visit planned and that’s to Tuscaloosa to visit the Crimson Tide (July 17-20).
