The Opening: James Set to Decide

2015 four-star Herriman (Utah) offensive tackle Andre James will make his college decision tonight, and many are expecting it to be UCLA...

Andre James is one of the top linemen out West and said his time in Oregon has been nothing but positive.

"This has been one of the coolest experiences of my life," James said. "You're here on the NIKE Campus competing against some of the best athletes in the country. You hear about a lot of these players and it has been great to get out and hang out with them.

"I've gotten great coaching and I feel like I've definitely gotten better. I've struggled at times but that happens when you're playing against great talent. I've bonded with guys like Dru Samia, Keenan Walker, Fred Ulu-Perry and of course the Utah boys, Osa Masina and Porter Gustin so this has been great for me."

James plays tackle for Herriman but has worked out at guard as well this week.

"I've actually never played guard before but the coaches wanted me to try it out," James said. "I felt pretty comfortable there and I think it's a position I could play in college if they wanted me too.

Everyone is recruiting me for tackle right now and that's where I'm most comfortable. I would have no problem doing either though, whatever gets me on the field the fastest."

On the recruiting front, James has a final four of Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA and USC and will make his commitment later tonight on ESPNU.

"I decided about two weeks ago," James said. "I had it down to two schools but I was ready to get this over with. The whole recruiting process has been a blast for me but I'm ready to make my decision and I'm very excited.

"I visited all four schools except for Oklahoma but I might still do some official visits after I commit. It would be fun for sure but it's something I would only do if the school I commit to is OK with it. I have some great choices and ready to get this done."

UCLA is the odds on favorite to land James at this time. If so, it would be the Bruins second commitment from The Opening following Stephen Johnson on Tuesday.
