One of the top performers of the Nike Peach Jam was 6-foot-7 combo forward D.J. Hogg, of the Texas Titans.
Hogg averaged 19.6 points in five games and helped lead the Titans to the first round of the Peach Jam tournament. Hogg shot 40-percent from three and also showed his ability to go off the bounce for floaters.
“I’ve been trying to add that to my game and getting to the bucket more and ball handling and getting stronger,” Hogg told Scout.com.
College coaches from across the country were at the Peach Jam to watch Hogg, who is currently regarded as the No. 27 overall player in the 2015 class. At this time, Hogg says he’s open, but wants to narrow his list down soon.
“Probably the hardest is Baylor, UCLA, Arizona, Texas, Texas A&M and SMU,” Hogg said when asked who was recruiting him the hardest. “Those are the ones that call and text me the most.”
Which coaches has he established strong relationships with?
“Probably Larry Brown, Sean Miller and Scott Drew those are probably the ones I’ve talked to the most,” he responded.
Hogg has taken unofficial visits to the local schools – Baylor, SMU, Texas and Texas A&M. Hogg said he’s looking to plan at least a pair of official visits.
“Probably since it’s farther UCLA and Arizona for sure for officials,” he said.
“The style of play they play fits me,” Hogg said about UCLA. “I’m not the quickest player and UCLA has produced pros that aren’t the quickest players. My ultimate goal is to get to the NBA. They get you to play the game and shoot the ball as long as you play in their style.”
“I watch them a lot on TV,” he said about Arizona. “They are a winning program. Sean Miller has done a great job. They are a really good team and they stick together and they all want to win. That’s my goal in college. I don’t want to be on a losing team because that’s just not fun.”
Hogg said he isn’t sure of his timetable in regards to making his college decision.
“I don’t know if I’m going to wait that long,” he said. “I can’t make up my mind. I want to get it out of the way, but I’ve always wanted to take official visits during basketball season to get the full effect but I don’t know if I want to wait that long.”
A four-star recruit, Hogg is the No. 6 small forward in the 2015 class.
