For Ray-Ray McCloud his announcement day is closing fast. This rising senior from Tampa (Fla.) Sickles is scheduled to announce his college decision on Monday, July 28th (3:30 p.m. PST)
Saturday he was in Gainesville visiting the University of Florida.
”I just ate and talked with the coaches,” McCloud said. “It’s mainly just T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) and D-Lew (Derek Lewis). Their message to me is simple – ‘We want you to be a Gator’.”
Florida has been hot and heavy on McCloud for some time now, especially after switching offensive coordinators. They are selling McCloud on the pitch that they're going to the spread attack and need explosive playmakers.
”They (Florida) has been recruiting me for two years and they are caring people,” McCloud said. “They really care about this program. They are trying to make a change and get it back on board. I think I really fit in and they want me as a playmaker for the offense at both slot and running back.”
McCloud, 5-foot-10, 174 pounds, is a four-star recruit and now the nation’s No. 20-ranked wide receiver.
What's significant is that McCloud says he has a pretty good idea of what team he will commit to on Monday but things could still change.
”For the most part I know,” McCloud said on Saturday while at Florida. “Things can change. I might see something today. I kind of knew this summer, especially when I started seeing some other schools.”
