Five-Stars Trim List
A couple of the West's top prospects in the 2015 class started working
towards narrowing their lists down to a more manageable group.
With the season closing in and official visits getting ready to be set, two
SoCal five-stars began to trim their schools.
Orange (Calif.) Lutheran outside linebacker Keisean Lucier-South
named a top five, spread across the country.
Lucier-South's list, which was in no order, included Florida, Michigan,
Oklahoma, Oregon and UCLA.
Meanwhile, Gardena (Calif.) Serra outside linebacker John Houston named a top
13, which was spread even wider.
Houston's top 13, in no order, Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Florida,
Florida State, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA and
More Four-Stars Narrow List
It wasn't just the five-stars who cut some schools, a pair of four-stars from
the West also started thinning things in their recruitment.
Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic running back Cameron Scarlett named a top five
that is heavy on Pac-12 schools, four of the five coming from that conference.
Scarlett's top five is Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and Washington from the Pac-12 and
Notre Dame rounded it out.
San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine safety Frank Buncom also named a top five, with
two of the same schools as Scarlett.
Buncom's top five is Duke, Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA and Vanderbilt.
Bellevue (Wash.) offensive tackle Henry Roberts, the top offensive lineman
in Washington, will announce from three schools on August 28th. The
four-star, who has offers from every Pac-12 school, will choose from Stanford,
USC and Washington at a team event according to Scott Eklund of Dawgman.com.
Tyler Bruggman, a four-star quarterback in 2013 out of Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy
Prep, who signed with Washington State and spent his first year there, announced
he was transferring to Louisville.
Najee Harris - ATH - Antioch (Calif.) - 2017
Harris was one of the top underclassmen we saw at the Oakland NFTC in May
and the sophomore-to-be got his third and fourth offers last week, from
Hawaii and Utah. Harris, who can play receiver, running back our
safety, now has three Pac-12 offers, from the Utes, hometown Cal and UCLA.
Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany athlete Dominic Davis committed to Washington
Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) linebacker Drew Berger committed to Boise State.
Long Beach (Calif.) City College punter Matt Mengel committed to UCLA.
Oceanside (Calif.) offensive lineman Cedric Bigge-Duren committed to Washington
Upland (Calif.) linebacker Josh Woods committed to UCLA.
Los Alamitos (Calif.) punter Blake Johnson committed to Washington State.
Folsom (Calif.) offensive guard Cody Creason committed to Arizona.
Petaluma (Calif.) Casa Grande kicker Matt Abramo committed to Washington State.
Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial defensive tackle Brett Tonz committed to Colorado.
Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe linebacker Taylor Powell committed to Nevada.
Westlake (Calif.) 2016 quarterback Malik Henry was offered by Texas.
Santa Margarita (Calif.) 2016 quarterback K.J. Costello was offered by UCLA.
Oakley (Calif.) Freedom center Dominic Fredrickson was offered by Boise State.
La Mirada (Calif.) receiver Tony Brown was offered by Nebraska.
Brentwood (Calif.) Heritage cornerback Sam Hinn was offered by Utah. Denver
(Colo.) Mullen safety James Jones was offered by Northern Colorado and
Sacramento State. San Diego (Calif.) Del Norte defensive back Quenton Meeks
was offered by Vanderbilt. Sandy (Utah) Alta safety Quinn Fabrizio was
offered by Colorado.
Rohnert Park (Calif.) Rancho Cotate Chris Taylor-Yamanoha was offered by
Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman linebacker Nela Otukolo was offered by
Newbury Park (Calif.) 2017 cornerback Darnay Holmes was offered by
Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial linebacker Dedrick Young was offered by Nebraska.
Newhall (Calif.) Hart receiver Trent Irwin was offered by UCLA. Berkeley
(Calif.) St. Mary's safety Ron Smith was offered by San Diego State.Las
Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman lineman Jackson Perry was offered by Utah State.
Berkeley (Calif.) St. Mary's outside linebacker Ben Schrider was offered by
