VIDEO: Jefferson, Roquan at The Opening

Malik Jefferson set The Opening abuzz with his athleticism, and then Roquan Smith turned in a four-pick performance in the 7-on-7 competition. UCLA has a chance with both nationally elite propects...

Prospect: Malik Jefferson
High School: Mesquite (Tex.) Ralph H Poteet
Height/Weight/40: 6’2.5”, 215, 4.39
Position: Linebacker
Ranking: #1 Outside Linebacker, #2 Overall

Recruiting: He'll officially visit UCLA, Ohio State and Stanford, while the local schools, Texas and Baylor, are trying to get official visits, as is Oregon.

The Skinny:

Jefferson is one of the freakiest athletes in the national 2015 class, a five-star, and the #2-ranked prospect in the nation. UCLA is considered a longshot at this point, but there isn't too much inside info on where Jefferson is really leaning. Some close to the situation think he'll ultimately stay with one of the Texas schools, but he's an academic kid, that will graduate early, and a pretty dynamic personality who could easily be comfortable going away to school.

Prospect: Roquan Smith
High School: Montezuma (Ga.) Macon County
Height/Weight/40: 6’1”, 203, 4.55
Position: Linebacker
Ranking: #2 Inside Linebacker, #68 Overall

Recruiting: Smith says that Florida, Georgia and UCLA are solidly on his list of finalists, with a long-list of big-named programs trying to make it. Smith said he could name a final five or six sometime soon.

The Skinny:

Smith is one of the best raw athletes in the nation. While he has a long ways to go in terms of technique and refinement, he has quite a bit to work with. When left to his natural athleticism, he was a beast in the 7-on-7 at The Opening. It's been thought that UCLA is his tentative leader, but the word is that he might ultimately opt to stay close to home.
