On the offense through one week:
We look really good. Finally the team has experience. We have juniors. Not that many seniors, but experienced players with games under their belt. It's looking a lot better. We hit the ground running. It looked really well.
On Najee Toran:
He's good. He's really good. He's doing a great job. Our whole O-Line is doing a great job. Coach Klemm is doing a great job with the rotation.
On Paul Perkins:
Paul's always the man. He's a great guy. LIke I said from when he first got here, he's made some massive improvements and he's still coming along. If he steps on the field, he'll be bigger, faster and stronger. Paul is the man. All the running backs, Jordon James and Manfro. All three will have big years.
On Devin Lucien:
With Devin, you understand he's growing and still getting the game down but he always has that want-to and that drive. That's what you look like. KW coming the same, step up and taking that leadership role.
On Lucien's quiet confidence:
Sometimes that's good. All of us are in the mindset of 'lets just work.' For me, for Eldridge, social media is gone. A lot of us are laying low and working. When we get back to Westwood, back to the season, we'll show what we're working for.
On athlete's rights from the O'Bannon news:
It was cool. I won't be here so that sort of sucks. It was nice to hear there are some things going in the right direction. A couple extra bucks. There is a lot of money being made, so when the athletes are able to live a little more comfortably. Always some shortfalls, certainly living in Westwood. It will be nice for the athletes after me to live a little more comfortable than we all did.
On if he's ever thought about it when he's seen himself on a video game:
When you play NCAA, you know who you're playing with. There have been some bills passed that will be nice. Maybe someday they'll put it aside when an athlete comes out of college. Statistically, not a lot of make it to the NFL and not a lot make it to their pension. It's a nice start in the right direction.
On taking his leadership role:
Just being myself, going out and having fun. Lead by example, pick up the energy when it's down. As people are willing to be led, those who are leading will step up.
On the defense:
They look nice. Our secondary and backers are really nice and our D-Line is amazing. I can't wait to see them go out there and play somebody else. Going out for two weeks, they've made huge strides. Coach Brick is gonna have them right this year.
On new weapons:
I think being able to throw deep to Eldridge, Devin on the outside, JP is going to be big for us, Kenny Walker this year. TD's in the mix. Going to be fun to throw deep.
