VIDEO: Jack Hears From His Mom

Myles Jack talked about who is the "Myles Jack" from this fall's camp...

Myles Jack talked to us after practice.

On fighting fatigue:
I wouldn't say fatigue. You're going to have nicks and bruises out here, going 100 mph. It's how the game goes. All camps across the country, it's the way it goes. But this is the point that teams separate themselves. We can either go downhill or push to get better and better. Its kind of like in the season, during the season, game nine, game ten, everyone is beat up, but if you can push through that, that determines the type of team you are.

On if they scale back at all because of injuries:
I wouldn't say scale back, but I think we're protective of our teammates. We're not going to take over excessive shots on our teammates. We're not going to tee off on defensless receivers. We're still playing with the same intensity.

On being asked to leave practice on Monday:
Yeah, that was embarrassing. My mom called me and she wasn't too happy about that. But yeah, that was embarrassing. I just have to control my temper. It's hot out here, we're going hard, and I just have to be better with that. Never again. That was the old me. I've changed. I've learned. A life lesson.

On who was harsher on him between Mora and his mom:
My mom. By a longshot. She wasn't happy about that. It goes to show you, though, the platform that I guess I'm on, and I have to watch what I do and say. I have to be careful and smart. I have to be better in that situation and I could have handled it in a better way.

On if he's still surprised by his fame:
I'm just accustomed to it now. I don't expect it to be on SportsCenter, I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. It's just a new year, new expectations and I have to be careful of what I'm doing. I have to be aware I can't do that stuff. In general, I can't do stuff like that.

On if he realized his stature based on that:
Yeah, I definitely had a wow moment, because I got dressed before everyone, so when I looked at my phone, it was already on my phone. I just know I have to be careful. It was on my phone not 15 minutes. I learn. I'm 18, I'll learn.

On defending the quicker guys:
More slots, like Mossi. They moved JP to the slot because of injuries, but he's more of an outside guy, so working with JP, I'm getting a little taste of it. I just try to work with everyone. I work with Ahmaad. He's fast and quick. I look for the competition and there were games when I'll have to cover guys like that in games.

On who is this year's Myles Jack:
The Myles Jack of this camp, I wouldn't say there is one, but the Kenny Young of this camp is Kenny Young. He's working with the 1's and is a baller. He's rolling. He looks like he has a good chance to steal a spot. I've really been impressed and he's one of the last freshman standing. He's learning fast and Kenny Young is the MVP of the camp in my book. He's definitely further along. His job is different than mine, he's just got to learn with his eyes, reading guards, but he's figuring it out and he'll be fine as the season rolls along.
