Latest Buzz on St. Brown

2015 four-star Anaheim (Calif.) Servite wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown was rumored to have committed to USC on a recent unofficial, but he says it's not true...

Equanimeous St. Brown always looks good on the football field and was impressive on Friday. He's a smooth pass catcher who runs well and at 6-foot-5, has a huge catch radius. He's gotten so much better over the last year using his size to create separation and is a much more physical player now then he was as a junior.

St. Brown took a visit to USC two weeks ago and after practice, he and his father met with Coach Sarkisian in his office. Rumors swirled that the receiver may have made a commitment.

"I didn't commit, I'm not even close," St. Brown said. "I just met with Coach Sark to see how I fit in and how they use their receivers. We had some questions about what my role would be and what they do to get their receivers ready for the NFL.

"They answered all our questions so it was a good meeting. Sark said they want a big receiver like me because they don't have anyone over 6-1 and with me being 6-5, I could add another dimension to the team. He said they would use me not just as an outside receiver but in the slot as well and would move me around to take advantage of mismatches. Like I said, it went well and I'm very high on USC right now."

Notre Dame has also been one of the favorites for St. Brown since the spring. On Friday, a story of possible academic fraud broke but the athlete said that won't affect his recruitment.

"That doesn't affect me at all, something like that can happen anywhere," St. Brown said. "Notre Dame is still a great academic school no matter what happens here. I already talked to the coaches before when the quarterback was suspended so it's not an issue.

"I still plan to take an official visit to Notre Dame and that will be for the Stanford game. I don't have any other trips set up right now but I know I want to take a couple of before I commit anywhere. I have no plans to make an early decision, more than likely it will be after my season but if I'm still not ready, I'll wait even longer."

St. Brown has consistently mentioned four schools that are on him the hardest and that remains the same.

"It's still USC, UCLA, Notre Dame and Stanford," St. Brown said. "USC probably talks to me the most and blows me up on twitter all the time. Notre Dame and UCLA are on me hard too and then Stanford is still talking to me but probably not as much as the other three.

"I'm actually in the process right now of sitting down with my parents and trying to figure out where I'll visit. I've already been to Stanford and the two local schools so I'm not sure if I'll take an official visit there. I could or just do an unofficial visit, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm trying to focus on our season too and we're looking forward to having a great year on the field and I'm excited for it."
