The comprehensive, state-of-the-art facility will be located on the west side of Spaulding Field. Designed by award-winning architectural, planning, and interior design firm ZGF Architects LLP, the Wasserman Football Center will house a locker room, athletic training area, strength and conditioning facility, coaches’ offices, team meeting rooms, equipment rooms and video rooms, in addition to several elements that will feature the storied history of UCLA Football.
The Wasserman Foundation was also vital to the recently-completed renovation of Pauley Pavilion.
"For decades, the Wasserman Foundation has generously supported key campus initiatives, including scholarships, capital projects, marquee research and health programs, as well as, of course, Athletics," said UCLA Chancellor Gene Block. "We have a deep appreciation for their longstanding commitment to ensuring UCLA’s success well into the future."
"Many people know Casey as a civic leader and supporter of education and health advancement," said Guerrero. "While I’ve known him to be all these things, most of all, he’s been a confidant and a friend, making this announcement all the more special. We could not be more excited to have the Wasserman name forever linked with our storied football program."
With the goal of raising private funds in excess of $50 million for estimated construction and finishing costs by the time ground is broken on the Wasserman Football Center in the fall of 2015, the UCLA Athletic Department has received approximately $43 million in cash and pledges to date since the initial fundraising announcement in September 2013.
"Casey understands what a special place UCLA is," said UCLA head football coach Jim Mora. "He knows first-hand that this is where dreams are cultivated and foundations for remarkable achievements are laid. What he has done is ensure that generations of student-athletes will walk through the doors of the Wasserman Football Center and have the opportunity to pursue greatness. I hope others will help make a very real difference for both our program and our student-athletes."
