VIDEO: Jack Talks About Adjusting

SEP. 8 -- Linebacker Myles Jack reacts to the tape of the Memphis game, talks about preparing for Texas, and running the ball more...

On what he saw on film from the Memphis game:
Just as a defense, we really hurt ourselves. Coach put us in a position to succeed, but it came down to us. We made mental errors. That will be corrected and we'll be fine this week.

On if Memphis did things they hadn't seen:
They definitely had some wrinkles for us. They did some things that we didn't really see against Austin Peay. Nothing that we had seen from their film the whole season prior. The coverages coach had us in, should have cancelled out what they did. But credit to them, they're a great team and their OC was calling great plays, but at the same time, we have to make plays.

On the defensive drop from week one:
You're not going to have three touchdowns scored every week. The last time they had one was 1960. That's just not going to happen. I'd like it to, but realistically, it's not going to happen. I think that's a defensive trait of this team, we can answer. We'll get it fixed.

On if he'll play more running back:
It just depends on what Coach Mora wants me to do. I mean, me personally, I'm up for whatever and whatever the team needs. I'm doing it based on the team needs, not personal accolades. What ever they ask for, I'm down for. I'm ready for it.

On if he ran up the middle in high school:
They ran pretty much everything for me. I ran sweeps, but that was high school. I ran outside plays, inside plays. They gave me a (toss) against ASU, so it just depends on what the coaches want me to do, what Coach Mazzone calls. My thing is being the best defensive player I can be.

On the tackling issues against Memphis:
It's just technique. I personally don't know. Guys are going to miss tackles. Memphis had athletes. They're going to make plays. We have to make our tackles. That's inexcusable. We're more than capable of making tackles. Even I had one. It happens. We're ready to put out a different look.

On the importance of coming out fast against Texas:
It's definitely important. Cowboys Stadium, there is going to be a lot of energy and excitement. We're not worried about the elements and focused on playing our game and controlling how we play, offensively, defensively and special teams and see where we can take it from here.

On Tyrone Swoopes:
He's a good player. I played against him in the Army Bowl, he was on my team on the West squad. That's a big dude, he's got an arm, he can run, you really have to hit him. I'm looking forward to playing them.

On if he and Swoopes are friends:
Not friends or anything like that, but I played against him. I know who he is, he may or may not know who I am, but he's a great player.

On what a running quarterback can do:
We're pretty much used to that in the Pac-12. A guy like that is 6-6 though so that's another aspect. It will be another challenge. We just have to be responsible in our rush lanes.

On if dropping in the polls bothers them:
Not really. At the end of the day, we're 2-0. That's all that matters. As long as we keep winning our games, that's all that matters.

On wanting a complete game:
We've played talented teams, Virginia, no matter what happened, they're a talented team, and you saw Memphis was tough. Once we get rid of the mistakes, we'll reach our potential and our ceiling.
