VIDEO: Mazzone on the O-Line

SEP. 11 -- Offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone talks about how the offensive line has developed...

Offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone talks about the improvements along the offensive line with Jake Brendel back:

On the progress of the offensive line:
I've been happy. This is really the second week we've had Jake back and Scottie back at guard and Malcolm, being his first year, now he's starting. To me, I've always been an advocate of, the longer those five play next to each other, the more they kind of get a feel for the strengths and weaknesses and the calls. I've seen them this week do a lot better job.

On if it's important when going against a team like Texas:
It's important every week. I'm worried about everyone. If it's St. John Bosco or Texas, I worry about everyone. I think we're making progress and that's what we're trying to do every day. Today we came out and fixed a few mistakes. We live in the moment around here. I'm not worried about Saturday yet, I'm worried about tomorrow.

On a school in transition like Texas:
They're Texas, but we play Oregon, we play Stanford, we play a lot of good football teams. We don't attack any different. We worry about ourselves. They're very talented and have tremendous athletes on defense. It's always football. We're going on the road to play Texas and I don't really get in to what's going on in Texas. All I know is how their defenses line up, their personnel and how often they blitz.

On if he's been to AT&T Stadium:
No, I haven't, but I've heard it's pretty cool. I know we had the talk yesterday to give them one day they can stare at the thing, then during the game, be done.

On Paul Perkins:
I think our run game is still a work in progress. We're usually further ahead at this point. The more touches he gets, the more run calls the offensive line gets, he'll be good. I thought he finished last year good and he's progressing.
