VIDEO: Starks on First Three Games

SEP. 22 -- Nate Starks talks about his growing comfort level and what he still needs to work on...

Nate Starks talks about the need to get his pad level lower as a running back:

On his first three games at UCLA:
It's going good, I've been really excited to get in to games. Just getting a taste of what college football really is.

On what changed to make him ready for the season:
Coach Polamalu was a big recruiter for me and I sat down and talked with him and asked him what he wanted me to do and he said I could make a real big impact on the team. So I've been getting better here every week. Of course, Manfro's injury, I'm filling in for him. I just want to get a little better and do big things for the team.

On if his confidence is growing:
A lot more. Coach P pushes me past my limits. I'm going a step farther every day.

On replacing Steven Manfro:
Of course we miss Manfro but the guys have to step up and fill in the role and once he went down, I said it's time for me to step up and show what I can do and work harder every day.

On what he's been working on:
I've been working on running a lot lower. I feel my speed is good. I'm a taller guy so I have to get a lot lower so I've been working on that.

On what his role will be:
I'm still kind of figuring that out. I can catch, run the ball to the outside or up the middle. I just want to keep working every day and figure out my role. When I get more comfortable with the game I'll get in there a lot more.
