Corona (Calif.) Centennial 2016 receiver Javon McKinley (6-2, 195) is up to three Pac-12 offers, with the newest one coming over the weekend.
“UCLA offered me this weekend and it kind of came out of the blue,” said McKinley. “They actually sent the message they were offering on Thursday but I didn’t see it until Saturday. I was really excited.”
Demetrice Martin, who recruits the Inland Empire for the Bruins, extended the offer to McKinley.
“They said they want me just as a receiver but didn’t specify which spot,” said McKinley.
McKinley was relatively familiar with the Bruins.
“I went up to their game against Memphis and I went to their camp this summer so that’s when I got to meet the coaching staff,” said McKinley. “I’m hoping to get back out there for an unofficial visit.”
A number of other schools are sending mail and showing interest in McKinley too.
McKinley said it’s too early to name a top five, but said the three schools that have offered plus Oregon and USC interest him the most at this point.
“I don’t really have a top five right now, but the schools that have offered and also Oregon and USC really interest me,” said McKinley. “I may commit at the end of my junior year or the beginning of my senior year.”
Next weekend, McKinley will visit another Pac-12 school unofficially and take in a game on Saturday.
“Next Saturday I’m going to the Washington-Stanford game and unofficially visiting Washington,” said McKinley. “Coach (Brent) Pease is recruiting me and they offered me when I visited during the summer.”
Last weekend in a win over Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, McKinley had three catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns, one an 85-yard touchdown catch.
