Prospect Recap: Week Five

We look at how UCLA prospects did in week five of the high school football season...

Game of the Week: Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame def. Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian, 37-31
It was a back-and-forth contest all night, but ultimately, the Knights made the plays down the stretch to win 37-31, with 2016 running back Leo Lambert scoring from a yard out, his second touchdown of the night on a 163-yard on 28-carry performance. New UCLA commit Michael Pittman had eight catches for 127 yards and a 20-yard touchdown, broke up two passes and laid a big hit on Notre Dame commit C.J. Sanders, that temporarily knocked Sanders out. Sanders, who UCLA also offered recently, came back and had 105 of his 133 yards in the second half, including a 43-yard touchdown.

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw, 65-7
After losing their first game since 2012 last week, Bosco rolled over Crenshaw, with UCLA quarterback commit Josh Rosen going 12-for-16 for 265 yards and five touchdowns in the first half. UCLA 2016 target Sean McGrew had nine carries for 48 yards and added a 42-yard touchdown catch.

Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis def. Honolulu (Hawaii) Damien, 54-34
Fred Ulu-Perry, the top center prospect nationally, who's committed to UCLA, helped St. Louis put up 41 points in the first half and over 450 yards of offense up in a rout of Damien.

Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou def. Honolulu (Hawaii) Pac-Five, 68-0
Punahou, home to two more Scout 300 prospects that UCLA is recruiting, offensive lineman Semisi Uluave and defensive end Canton Kaumatule, scored 40 points in the first quarter and 61 in the first half, racking up nearly 600 yards in offense.

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly def. Compton (Calif.), 99-9
The Jackrabbits scored 99 points. Yes, 99 points. Poly rolled Compton by 90, with 63 of the points coming in the first half. UCLA recruit Iman Marshall had two catches for 52 yards and three tackles and Jack Jones had four catches for 57 yards and an 84-yard punt return.

American Fork (Utah) def. Herriman (Utah), 24-21
UCLA verbal Andre James and Herriman lost on an overtime field goal, 24-21, to American Fork.

Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton vs. West Jordan (Utah) Copper Hills, 58-3
Brighton got a touchdown and a sack from Osa Masina, who took his official visit to UCLA over the weekend.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Las Vegas (Nev.) Shadow Ridge, 56-0
UCLA pledge Alize Jones had three catches for 80 yards and a touchdown to help the Gaels roll in their first game over a Nevada opponent.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy def. Episcopal School of Jacksonville (Fla.), 49-10
The TCA defense had a big night, with UCLA commit Victor Alexander recording four tackles, two of them for loss and a forced fumble in their blowout win.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Brentwood def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward, 43-14
New UCLA commit Breland Brandt had two tackles, two hurries and a sack but Windward lost by 29 to Brentwood.

UCLA commit William Lockett and Manvel (Texas) stayed unbeaten with a 52-7 win over South Houston (Texas). Several UCLA commits had byes this weekend, including Santa Margarita (Calif.) and commit Rick Wade, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran and outside linebacker Keisean Lucier-South, UCLA commit Bolu Olurunfunmi and Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North, Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde offensive lineman Tevita Halalilo, DeSoto (Texas) and UCLA commit Bryce English, Upland (Calif.) and linebacker Josh Woods, Lakeland (Fla.) Christian and running back T.J. Simmons, San Leandro (Calif.) and athlete Stephen Johnson and Lodi (Calif.) Tokay and receiver L.J. Reed (who will make his season debut on Friday).
