Roquan Smith (6'1/210) is an instinctive linebacker prospect that not only makes the right reads, he has the athleticism to make an impactful play. Smith is one of the best linebackers in coverage I can remember seeing. He was outstanding at The Opening over the summer, and he continued his good work into his senior season with an interception for touchdown against Perry.
The Perry play was particularly impressive, because Smith saved a touchdown two plays earlier by chasing down a running back who had gotten the edge. His touchdown saving tackle followed by his interception caused a 14 point swing single handedly from the linebacker position. It's not often a linebacker can make that claim, but Smith seems to do it more often than most.
Smith's list of finalist looks like a who's who of college football including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, South Carolina,Texas A&M, Tennessee, and UCLA among others.
Here is a look at him in action and his big game against Perry earlier this season.
