Dameon Baber is one of the state's top corners and impressed us at multiple events over the summer. We first saw him at the SoCal NIKE Camp and then later on at Oregon State's summer camp. The Beavers offered Baber following that camp and the corner took an official visit to Corvallis a few weeks ago.
"My visit to Oregon State was great," Baber said. "I got treated very well by the coaches and players and everyone was very welcoming to me. I really love the coaching staff, especially Coach Riley and Coach Perry. The players were great to be around and I had a lot of fun there.
"I like the city of Corvallis as well, it's quiet and calm and I was really comfortable there. Everyone around the town greeted me with respect and I had a great vibe about the place. I loved the food, you definitely eat a lot on these visits so that was cool too. Coach Riley told me I remind him of him of Ryan Murphy, who's a great player, so that was quite a compliment for sure."
Despite the strong visit, Baber said he never thought about committing.
"No, it's too early for that, I want to take a few more trips," Baber said. "I'm not sure where I'm going but I'm still looking at Arizona, they offered over the summer and I have a lot of interest there. UCLA has been picking up interest in me lately and I would love to get an offer from them as well.
Hopefully I can be there this weekend for the Oregon game, that should be a good one. That's about where things are at right now though. Just going to play things out, keep doing well on the field and hoping for the best."
