VIDEO: Powell on Leadership

OCT. 15 -- Senior guard Norman Powell talks about taking a more prominent role as a leader and a scorer this year...

Norman Powell talks at basketball media day:

On who could be the guy this year:
All of us. We have a lot of guys that can put the ball in the basket. Last year we had Zach, Kyle and Jordan. I feel like with the back court we have, me, Bryce and Isaac, we're going to have that production. I'm ready to increase my workload this year. It's going to be a team effort and I feel like we have all the pieces.

On pressure to be the primary scorer:
You could say that. I don't feel the pressure at all from being asked to have an increased scoring role. It's something I've looked forward to for a long time and I'm ready to show I can.

On where he needed to improve:
My shot. My three point shooting wasn't where I wanted it to be. I've been working on my shot with my trainers and know what I need to do to fix it.

On being a leader:
It's really big. We're really young and a lot of these guys don't know what it is to be in a college basketball game. I have to bring that intensity and make sure they know where they're going, and what their assignment is. It's big for me to do that because I have the experience on the team. Whether I go 0-9 or someone scores on me, I have to have that right mindset.
