Huffman's Notes From the Road: Bay Area

OCT. 22 -- In the last week we took a swing through the Bay Area and saw a number of prospects...

Scout was out and about in the Bay Area this weekend, visiting schools and checking out a trio of games.

Here are notes from the road.

-Pittsburg (Calif.) 2016 four-star safety Shurod Thompson has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, California, Colorado, Oregon State, UCLA, Washington State and Weber State but told Scout that his top two right now is Cal and UCLA.

-Pittsburg (Calif.) 2016 three-star cornerback Jordan Parker had UCLA at his game on Friday night and the Bruins offered on Tuesday. Parker is also hearing from Nevada, Oregon, Washington State and Cal. The Bears are his top school.

-San Leandro (Calif.) four-star cornerback Stephen Johnson is solid to UCLA and plans to visit the Bruins officially when they play USC on November 22nd.

-Oakland (Calif.) McClymond 2016 quarterback Kevin Davidson was ruled ineligible for the rest of the season after transferring from Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley but that hasn't stopped schools from recruiting him. Davidson said Oregon State, Cal, Arizona and San Jose State are closest to offering him while Arkansas, Northwestern and Washington are talking to him as well. Davidson has been to Cal, Colorado and San Jose State and will visit Stanford this Saturday.

-Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds cornerback Bomani Bassette is playing quarterback with Davidson out but he's headed to San Jose State to play cornerback and is solid to the Spartans.

-Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds safety Javin White, who moved to Mack from Fairfield (Calif.) Vanden, still has an offer from New Mexico, but Utah and Cal have been talking with White.

-Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds safety Nigel Center, a 2016 Scout 300 prospect, is fitting in at Mack nicely and has been hearing the most with Oregon State, Washington, Washington State and Cal.

-San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian running back Kirk Johnson committed to Texas in the spring and said he's not wavered a bit. Johnson said he talks with Texas commit Zach Gentry a lot and he's excited to play for head coach Charlie Strong.

-San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian 2016 receiver Collin Johnson committed to Texas the same day his older brother Kirk did, and he will follow his brother and father, who also played at Texas, to Austin. While Johnson is still two years away from playing for the Horns, he said he's excited to see quarterback Tyrone Swoopes develop and also talks with Horns quarterback commit Zach Gentry.

-San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian linebacker Blair Ewers has an offer from Tulane and said he's hearing from Cal, Oregon and UCLA the most frequent.

-San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian 2016 running back Morian Walker is backing up Kirk Johnson, but diligently hit a number of camps and is talking the most with Oregon State, Cal, USC and UCLA and plans to visit Oregon State unofficially.

-San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian quarterback Michael Machado is talking mostly with UC Davis and Sacramento State and camped with UC Davis and San Jose State.

-San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian offensive lineman Trevor Thomas is hearing from San Jose State, Fresno State, Northern Arizona and Texas State. Thomas camped with Oregon State, Fresno State and San Jose State and visited Northern Arizona. Oregon State is also talking with Thomas.

-San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian 2016 outside linebacker Akil Jones is hearing from Oregon State, Utah and Missouri and grew up rooting for USC and Arizona State.

-Antioch (Calif.) 2017 four-star athlete Najee Harris already has four offers, from California, Hawaii, UCLA and Utah, with the Bears and Bruins standing out for him. Harris, who can play receiver, running back, outside linebacker and safety, is also hearing consistently from Oklahoma.

-Oakland (Calif.) Stellar Prep quarterback Cameron Burston committed to San Jose State early on in the process. The three-star cited the coaching staff and his comfort with the Spartans for not wavering from his commitment.

-Oakland (Calif.) Stellar Prep safety Darrell Adams said Arizona State and Utah are standing out, with both having offered and both recruiting him the hardest. Adams is also hearing from Cal, Oregon and UCLA.

-Oakland (Calif.) Stellar Prep cornerback Chandler Gumbs has offers from Colorado State, Penn and Sacramento State and is hearing from other Pac-12, Mountain West and Ivy League schools.

-Oakland (Calif.) Stellar Prep defensive tackle Tahji Williams is talking with Oregon, Arizona State, Cal, Texas, San Diego State and Washington State.

-Oakland (Calif.) Stellar Prep defensive end Jamal Moody is hearing from San Diego State and Utah and thinks more schools could get involved as his film gets out.
