Two Big Official Visits This Weekend

UCLA will have two top-26 national basketball recruits visit campus starting today...

UCLA has two top-26 prospects taking official visits this weekend.

They are: Stephen Zimmerman, the 6-11 center from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, who is ranked the #14-ranked player in the nation, and #6-ranked center; and Brandon Ingram, the 6-8 small forward from Kinston (North Carolina), the #26th-ranked prospect overall and the #6 small forward.

Both Zimmerman and Ingram will start their visits Friday, and Friday will feature a trip to the Los Angeles Clippers facility and practice.

The new floor for Pauley Pavilion has been completed, and the two prospects will watch practice there Saturday, for the first time since Pauley’s floor was damaged.

It’s believed the North Carolina schools will be difficult to beat for Ingram, with Duke having been the long-time frontrunner and North Carolina pulling out all the stops. He visited Kentucky and Kansas for the last two weekends, during those schools’ big Midnight Madness events. North Carolina State, which Ingram has visited, is also still on his list.

Zimmerman also took official visits to Kansas and Kentucky. He’ll visit UCLA this weekend, Arizona in two weeks, and could possibly still visit North Carolina.

Two more top-11 prospects will visit UCLA officially next weekend: Jaylen Brown, the #1-ranked prospect in the nation, a small forward from Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler; and Carlton Bragg, the power forward from Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela – St. Joseph, ranked the #3 power forward and #11 overall.

Brown, Bragg, Zimmerman and Ingram all visited Kansas and Kentucky at the same time. Zimmerman’s mother, Lori Stevens, when recently asked if the four would influence each other, said: “I don’t think it factors in. They all talk about it and sit around the table and say it would be cool. All four seem to have their heads on their shoulders and know they have to make the best decision for them.”

UCLA is still in the running to get an official visit from Ivan Rabb, the 6-11 post from Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd, the nation’s #5-rankd prospect and #1 power forward.
