We're now past the mid-way point of the season and there haven't been too many offensive linemen out West more impressive than junior Luke Wattenberg. The tackle prospect was recently bumped in to the 2016 Scout 300 and look for his stock to continue to rise over the coming year.
We've seen Wattenberg play twice this year and wrote the following evaluation after our last viewing- Wattenberg Evaluation. He's a skilled big man who shows all the ability to excel at the next level.
"I'm also hearing from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Northwestern and USC," Wattenberg said. "Growing up, I was raised in a UCLA family so that offer was big for me. They saw my sophomore film and then Coach Polamalu came by my school and watched a practice. They offered me shortly afterwards.
"I haven't taken a visit to the campus yet but that's something I plan to do later in the spring or summer. This past spring I went and visited Cal, Oregon State and Duke and I liked all those schools. I plan to take a few more visits this coming spring and then ideally, I would like to commit towards the end of the spring or early in the summer before my senior year."
Wattenberg said he currently doesn't have a leader and is still open to all the schools recruiting him.
"Everyone is pretty even for me right now," Wattenberg said. "I'm not closing the doors to anyone and will consider every school who wants to recruit me.
"The biggest factors for me in picking a school are the academics, the overall atmosphere and my relationship with the coaches. I want to connect with not just my position coach or coach in charge of recruiting me but the head coach as well. Location isn't a big deal, I'll play wherever, I'm just looking for the best overall fit and where I'll be comfortable."
