Scouting Ben Edwards

Nov. 6 -- We break down the safety prospectt from Jacksonville, Florida, with analysis and season highlights...

Prospect: Ben Edwards
High School: Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian
Position: Safety
Ranking: #45 S in 2015
Recruiting: Edwards has pretty much narrowed it down to North Carolina, Stanford, UCLA and Miami. He's visited North Carolina and Stanford, and still has visits to Miami (Nov. 15) and UCLA (Nov. 22, for the USC game) on the docket. The feeling is that it's a UCLA/Stanford battle.

Scouting: I had a chance to see Ben Edwards play a few weeks ago against Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy in the 2016 class. Below are some highlights of Edwards in action.

Edwards, 6-foot-0, 195-pounds, is a nice looking safety prospect that plays the run very well. This kid takes good angles and gets to where the football is in a hurry. And when he gets there Edwards will thump you. Edwards brings the wood and he does it with very good wrap up fundamentals.

Edwards is put together and runs well. He’s physical and looks to be better suited playing the strong safety position and closer to the box.
