Game of the Week: Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei vs. Westlake (Calif.)
In a rematch from earlier this season, where Mater Dei rallied to beat Westlake and hold off the Warriors on a missed field goal on the final play, Westlake again hosts Mater Dei. Westlake is headlined by Florida State quarterback commit Malik Henry and 2016 four-star receiver Theo Howard, who has a Bruin offer and UCLA in his early top two. Mater Dei has UCLA 2016 offensive line target Frank Martin and another 2016 standout in Curtis Robinson, who is starting to rack up offers and was at UCLA's last home game against Arizona.
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco vs. Long Beach (Calif.) Cabrillo
Top-seeded St. John Bosco, which won their third straight Trinity League title, begins their CIF-SS Pac-5 title defense with a first round game against Cabrillo. Bosco is led by the nation's top quarterback, Josh Rosen, UCLA's quarterback commit. The Braves have a slew of stars in their sophomore and junior classes too, namely four-star 2016 running back Sean McGrew and D.J. Morgan, a safety/receiver.
Encino (Calif.) Crespi vs. Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita is led on defense by UCLA commit Rick Wade and on offense by 2016 four-star quarterback K.J. Costello. They also boast sleeper receiver Kyle Sweet, the younger brother of Bruin receiver Logan Sweet. Crespi features the West's top safety, Marvell Tell, Washington commit D.J. Beavers, Oklahoma State commit Vaimoe Sekona and 2016 defensive end Marcus Moore.
Anaheim (Calif.) Servite vs. Long Beach (Calif.) Poly
Poly is loaded all over and could have their most talented teams in years. DB Iman Marshall is one of the nation's top corners and will see time at receiver as well. Defensive lineman Joseph Wicker can play inside or outside, and has ten sacks in the first three games and that led UCLA to offer him last month. Defensive back Colin Samuel gives the Jackrabbits two of the biggest and most talented corners in the state. Josh Love is a smooth, efficient quarterback and junior receiver Jack Jones, who UCLA offered at their camp this summer, is one of the most explosive players in the state. Servite has receiver target Equanimeous St. Brown, a four-star recruit the Bruins are recruiting plus his younger brother, Osiris St. Brown, a 2017 four-star, with four-star quarterback Travis Waller, a commit to Oregon, on offense. Defensively, linebacker Jack Savage, the three-star linebacker who's the son of UCLA baseball coach John Savage, anchors the Friars. San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra vs. Corona (Calif.) Santiago
JSerra has 2016 Scout 300 offensive lineman Luke Wattenberg, who has an offer from the Bruins as well as three-star defensive end D.J. Bailey. Santiago has their offense ran by Alabama commit Blake Barnett, the five-star quarterback.
Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman vs. Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial
The Gaels are the No. 1 team in the country by Scout.com and continue the Nevada state playoffs this weekend. Gorman has a five-star commit to the Bruins in tight end Alize Jones, the West's top player at the position. Gorman also has UCLA target Cordell Broadus at receiver and 2017 quarterback Tate Martell, a Washington commit, now completely running the Gaels offense. Another 2017 four-star is receiver Tyjon Lindsey, a versatile all-purpose weapon. Centennial has a 2017 four-star of their own in defensive lineman Greg Rogers, who has a lot of interest in UCLA.
Upland (Calif.) vs. San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) San Juan Hills
In a game that could have UCLA defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich at, the Highlanders will host San Juan Hills in their CIF playoff opener. UCLA four-star linebacker commit Josh Woods is part of a talented Upland team which features two Washington State commits, Kameron Powell and Tyler Hilinski and 2017 four-star athlete Nathan Tilford, who has a UCLA offer already.
Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde vs. Menifee (Calif.) Paloma Valley
Rancho Verde and UCLA commit Tevita Halalilo begin their quest for a CIF-SS title with a home game against Paloma Valley.
San Leandro (Calif.) vs. Antioch (Calif.)
The Pirates may be without UCLA commit Stephen Johnson, who reaggravated his foot injury that has sidelined him for much of the season. Antioch features one of the top 2017 prospects in the country, four-star all-everything Najee Harris, who already has an offer from the Bruins.
Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy vs. Tallahassee (Fla.) Maclay
With UCLA coaches expected, TCA and UCLA commit Victor Alexander, along with teammates like Jeff Holland, Ben Edwards and Kevin Tolliver, take on Maclay in a state playoff game.
Lodi (Calif.) Tokay vs. Merced (Calif.)
Tokay and UCLA commit L.J. Reed start their CIF-SacJoaquin Section playoff hunt against Merced, which has three-star quarterback Tyrone Williams leading their offense.
UCLA commit William Lockett and Manvel (Texas) look to stay unbeaten in their first round playoff game against Beaumont (Texas) West Brook. Lakeland (Fla.) Christian running back T.J. Simmons, a UCLA commit, could return to action this weekend against Melbourne (Fla.) Central Catholic. Thursday night games: American Fork (Utah) ended the season of Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton linebacker and UCLA target Osa Masina, 58-28. Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North and UCLA commit Bolu Olorunfunmi are on a first round playoff bye. Herriman (Utah) and UCLA commit Andre James have completed their season. Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis and UCLA commit Fred Ulu-Perry have completed their season. Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward and UCLA commit Breland Brandt have completed their season. Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol and UCLA commit Cassius Peat have completed their season. Orange (Calif.) Lutheran and UCLA target Keisean Lucier-South have completed their season.
