Game of the Week: Long Beach (Calif.) Poly def. Anaheim (Calif.) Servite, 34-33
Servite did a good job of neutralizing UCLA target Joseph Wicker, limiting him to just one tackle and no sacks, but the Jackrabbits held on for a 1-point win. Iman Marshall had four tackles and one for loss and 2016 four-star receiver Jack Jones five catches for 51 yards and a touchdown and added four tackles in the win.
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei def. Westlake (Calif.), 28-7
Their second game was much easier than their first and Mater Dei rolled Westlake, 28-7 to end the Warriors season and move the Monarchs on in the CIF-SS Pac-5 Playoffs. UCLA target Theo Howard had 70 yards receiving in the loss.
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco def. Long Beach (Calif.) Cabrillo, 50-0
Top-seeded St. John Bosco, started their defense of the CIF-SS Pac-5 title with a 50-0 blowout of Moore League school Cabrillo. UCLA quarterback commit Josh Rosen was 11-for-18 for 288 yards and two touchdown passes and ran for a 12-yard touchdown. 2016 UCLA recruit Sean McGrew ran for 37 yards on seven carries and scored on two of those carries. McGrew also had a 27-yard reception. 2016 Scout 300 safety D.J. Morgan had seven tackles in the win.
Encino (Calif.) Crespi def. Santa Margarita (Calif.), 45-13 Crespi had a surprisingly easy time in a playoff win over Santa Margarita. UCLA commit Rick Wade had six tackles in his final prep game. Santa Margarita 2016 quarterback K.J. Costello threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, both to receiver Kyle Sweet, who finished with 137 yards in the loss.
Upland (Calif.) def. San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) San Juan Hills, 42-7
The Highlanders got another big game from UCLA commit Josh Woods, who made his impact on defense, where he had nine tackles, three sacks, three hurries, two pass deflections and an interception in a first round playoff win. 2017 four-star running back Nathan Tilford, who has a Bruin offer, ran for 202 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns.
Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial, 52-7
In an easy playoff win, the Gaels went largely with youth, with UCLA commit Alize Jones only playing limited minutes and not getting a catch and receiver Cordell Broadus catching just one pass for the nation's No. 1 team.
Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde def. Menifee (Calif.) Paloma Valley, 52-16
Rancho Verde and UCLA commit Tevita Halalilo, who anchored the offensive line for the Mustangs, ran all over Paloma Valley in their first-round playoff win. The Mustangs ran for 344 yards and averaged 10 yards a carry in the win.
Antioch (Calif.) def. San Leandro (Calif.), 50-26
Sidelined for his final prep game, the Pirates and UCLA commit Stephen Johnson, had their season come to an end. On the flipside, Antioch, which features elite 2017 running back Najee Harris, who UCLA has offered, moved on, thanks largely to Harris. The four-star ran for 371 yards on 30 carries and scored four touchdowns to turn a 19-16 halftime deficit into a 34-7 second half and their first playoff win in 30 years.
Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy def. Tallahassee (Fla.) Maclay, 44-13
UCLA commit Victor Alexander had three tackles, 1.5 for loss and a sack in the playoff win. UCLA recruit Jeff Holland had two tackles, both for loss, and a sack.
Merced def. Lodi (Calif.) Tokay, 66-27
Tokay and UCLA commit L.J. Reed had their season end in the first round of the CIF-SacJoaquin Playoffs. In his final game, Reed had 136 yards receiving on nine catches and had a pair of touchdowns.
San Gorgonio (Calif.) def. San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon, 55-7
New UCLA offered athlete Nathan Meadors ran for 255 yards on 11 carries for four touchdowns and was 6-for-14 for 124 yards and two touchdowns at quarterback.
UCLA commit William Lockett and Manvel (Texas) stayed unbeaten with a 42-26 first round playoff win over Beaumont (Texas) West Brook. Lakeland (Fla.) Christian running back T.J. Simmons, a UCLA commit, sat out their 32-26 playoff win over Melbourne (Fla.) Central Catholic. American Fork (Utah) ended the season of Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton linebacker and UCLA target Osa Masina, 58-28. Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North and UCLA commit Bolu Olorunfunmi had a first round playoff bye. Herriman (Utah) and UCLA commit Andre James have completed their season. Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis and UCLA commit Fred Ulu-Perry have completed their season. Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward and UCLA commit Breland Brandt have completed their season. Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol and UCLA commit Cassius Peat have completed their season. Orange (Calif.) Lutheran and UCLA target Keisean Lucier-South have completed their season.
