Tony Brown is one of the top receivers out West and is good for at least one big play every game. He's a well build 6-1, 185 pounds and plays with great fluidity and body control. He can get deep, runs well after the catch and plays with a physical edge to him as well.
On the recruiting front, Brown has taken official visits to Nebraska and Texas Tech and is set to check out Washington State at the end of the month. Don't be surprised if his recruitment doesn't make it out to the end of the month after landing an offer from UCLA on Tuesday.
"He likes UCLA a lot," Matador coach Mike Moschetti said. "That was a big offer for him and his family and it gives him the option of staying close to home. Coach Yarber came to watch him last Friday and we've been in communication for a while now. I could definitely see Tony making a quick decision here and he'll be at the game with USC this weekend.
"USC is another school that sounds close to offering. Tee Martin loves him and talks to Tony every week. I'm not sure what they're waiting on but it seems like they're very close. Arizona State is also getting involved, they called yesterday right after UCLA offered. So we'll see what happens, Tony loved both of his visits but that UCLA offer was definitely exciting for him and is giving him a lot to think about."
Brown finished his season with 38 catches for 929 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also played corner and safety and has the athleticism and skill set to make an excellent defensive back in college but wants to play on the offensive side of the ball in college.
