NOV. 21 -- We look at the latest news and notes from out West in this week's notebook...

Crosstown Showdown in Pasadena

UCLA will host USC on Saturday and several of the top recruits in the 2015, 2016 and 2017 classes will be in the Rose Bowl, several of them boasting offers from both teams.

UCLA will also be hosting a seven official visits, four of them from the West Coast, and three more national recruits.

Two of the Bruins' commits will be in town this weekend for their official visits, Herriman (Utah) offensive lineman Andre James and San Leandro (Calif.) cornerback Stephen Johnson, who both committed to the Bruins at The Opening.

The other two West Coast visitors are both uncommitted, Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes defensive end Benning Potoae and Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe running back Paul Lucas.

Two of UCLA's out-of-region commits will be in town in Lakeland (Fla.) Christian running back T.J. Simmons and Manvel (Texas) cornerback William Lockett and they'll be joined by Oklahoma City (Okla.) Casady target Josh Wariboko.

Some of the top recruits from the Southland with offers from both schools include Long Beach (Calif.) Poly five-star cornerback Iman Marshall, San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills four-star cornerback Dechaun Holiday and Orange (Calif.) Lutheran five-star outside linebacker Keisean Lucier-South.

Sun Devils Have Select Group

In their final home game of the season, Arizona State will host four players on official visits, three from California and one from in-state.

Headlining the visit weekend is Gardena (Calif.) Serra five-star linebacker John Houston, who pushed back his visit from the Notre Dame game to this weekend.

2015 cornerback Stanley Norman will visit Arizona State

Joining him is his Serra teammate, four-star cornerback Stanley Norman.

The third SoCal native visiting is Long Beach (Calif.) Poly defensive end Joseph Wicker.

The lone visitor from Arizona is Arizona Western College tight end Raymond Epps.

Ducks Welcoming Handful

Its the final home game for the Pac-12 North champions and Oregon is bringing in a few commits and a few more targets.

While Byron Cowart, the five-star defensive lineman from Florida is the headliner, from the West Coast, two of their offensive line verbals will be there to see their future school and work on Cowart.

2015 offensive guard Jake Hanson will be in Eugene this weekend

Yakima (Wash.) West Valley offensive lineman Shane Lemieux and Eureka (Calif.) offensive lineman Jake Hanson, who both pledged to the Ducks in the spring, are visiting officially.

Monrovia (Calif.) athlete Octavius Spencer, who the Ducks offered earlier this week, will visit officially as well.

The lone visitor from Arizona is Arizona Western College tight end Raymond Epps.

Utes Hosting Trio

In their last chance to host official visitors on a game weekend, Utah will host three players.

The big name is San Ramon (Calif.) Dougherty Valley four-star offensive tackle Kieffer Longson, who's got the Utes in his final four.

2015 linebacker Tevis Bartlett will finally take his Utah official visit

Cheyenne (Wyo.) East athlete Tevis Bartlett, the top recruit in Wyoming this year, will take his much-awaited official visit this weekend, after postponing it from earlier in the fall.

Chaffey (Calif.) College cornerback Toure Boyd will also be visiting officially.

West Visitors Going National
Notre Dame will host Riverside (Calif.) Poly cornerback Ykili Ross when they play Louisville after Ross had to push it back a week.

Scottsdale (Ariz.) College offensive lineman Denzell Dotson will visit Southern Mississippi.

Lake Oswego (Ore.) Lakeridge quarterback Eric Dungey took a midweek visit to Syracuse that wraps up on Friday.

And South Jordan (Utah) Bingham cornerback Dominieke Jones will visit Wyoming.

  • Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro five-star receiver Christian Kirk, the West's top-ranked receiver in the 2015 class, will announce his college decision on December 17th..

    Colin Samuel - CB - Long Beach (Calif.) Poly - 2015
    Before the weekend, Samuel didn't have a Pac-12 offer. Since then, he's picked up three, plus offers from the SEC, Big Ten and Big 12. Samuel has added offers from Colorado, UCLA and Washington State as well as Oklahoma, Mississippi State and Michigan just since Sunday.

  • Snow (Utah) College punter Nick Porebski committed to Oregon State.
