UCLA Prospect Preview: Week Twelve

Nov. 21 -- A look at the games this weekend involving UCLA commits and recruits in Week Twelve...

Game of the Week: Upland (Calif.) vs. Newhall (Calif.) Hart
In a talent-laden game, the Highlanders will visit in their CIF playoff opener. UCLA four-star linebacker commit Josh Woods is part of a talented Upland team which features two Washington State commits, Kameron Powell and Tyler Hilinski and 2017 four-star athlete Nathan Tilford, who has a UCLA offer already. Hart has Arizona State commit Brady White at quarterback and four-star receiver Trent Irwin.

San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra vs. La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat
JSerra has 2016 Scout 300 offensive lineman Luke Wattenberg, who has an offer from the Bruins as well as three-star defensive end D.J. Bailey. Bishop Amat has a pair of UCLA 2016 recruits who've both been offered by the Bruins, defensive back Trevon Sidney and receiver Tyler Vaughns.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei vs. Corona (Calif.) Centennial
Mater Dei has UCLA 2016 offensive line target Frank Martin and another 2016 standout in Curtis Robinson, who is starting to rack up offers and was at UCLA's last home game against Arizona. The Huskies have a great one-two punch at receiver led by California commit Greyson Bankhead and standout junior Javon McKinley, who has a UCLA offer. Los Angeles NFTC running back MVP J.J. Taylor is electric out of the backfield. Defensively, Oregon corner commit Jihree Stewart leads the secondary and fellow corner Gabreal Hughes will be one of the fastest players on the field.

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco vs. Norco (Calif.)
Top-seeded St. John Bosco continues their CIF-SS Pac-5 title defense with a first round game against Cabrillo. Bosco is led by the nation's top quarterback, Josh Rosen, UCLA's quarterback commit. The Braves have a slew of stars in their sophomore and junior classes too, namely four-star 2016 running back Sean McGrew and D.J. Morgan, a safety/receiver. Norco is led by a pair of juniors in quarterback Victor Viramontes and safety Troy Dye, the younger brother of former UCLA safety Tony Dye.

Encino (Calif.) Crespi vs. Long Beach (Calif.) Poly Poly is loaded all over and could have their most talented teams in years. DB Iman Marshall is one of the nation's top corners and will see time at receiver as well. Defensive lineman Joseph Wicker can play inside or outside, and has ten sacks in the first three games and that led UCLA to offer him last month. Defensive back Colin Samuel, who UCLA offered this week, gives the Jackrabbits two of the biggest and most talented corners in the state. Josh Love is a smooth, efficient quarterback and junior receiver Jack Jones, who UCLA offered at their camp this summer, is one of the most explosive players in the state. Crespi features the West's top safety, Marvell Tell, Washington commit D.J. Beavers, Oklahoma State commit Vaimoe Sekona and 2016 defensive end Marcus Moore.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman vs. Las Vegas (Nev.) Arbor View
The Gaels are the No. 1 team in the country by Scout.com and continue the Nevada state playoffs this weekend in the D1 Sunset Region Championship. Gorman has a five-star commit to the Bruins in tight end Alize Jones, the West's top player at the position. Gorman also has UCLA target Cordell Broadus at receiver and 2017 quarterback Tate Martell, a Washington commit, now completely running the Gaels offense. Another 2017 four-star is receiver Tyjon Lindsey, a versatile all-purpose weapon.

Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde vs. Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill
Rancho Verde and UCLA commit Tevita Halalilo continue their quest for a CIF-SS title against Citrus Hill, which features to San Diego State commits in safety Mike Bell and receiver Jacoby Herring.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy vs. Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic
TCA and UCLA commit Victor Alexander, along with teammates like Jeff Holland, Ben Edwards and Kevin Tolliver, take on Trinity Catholic in a state playoff game.

Riverside (Calif.) Poly vs. San Gorgonio (Calif.)
New UCLA offeree Nate Meadors, who plays quarterback and safety, and San Gorgonio take on unbeaten Riverside Poly, which features four-star cornerback Ykili Ross, who UCLA has offered, and also plays receiver.

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North vs. Clovis (Calif.)
After a first round bye, the Broncos come in loaded with one of the Central Section's best teams and they have a pair of Pac-12 commits plus several other D-I prospects on their team. Bolu Olorunfunmi, a three-star running back committed to UCLA, heads into his third year as the starter in the backfield and rushed for 130 yards last week in his season debut. Fullback Westin Hatcher, who leads the way for Bolu, is a Top 5 fullback in the West. Defensively, Bransin Johnson, Malachi Foote and Noruwa Obanor are a part of a secondary that has all three with D-I offers. Linebacker Hayden Haupt has a number of offers too. Scout 100 defensive tackle Jacob Daniel, a commit to USC, is the top defender on the Broncos. Clovis has three-star receiver J.J. Wills from the 2016 class and the son of former UCLA running back Shawn Wills.

Others:
UCLA commit William Lockett and Manvel (Texas) look to stay unbeaten in their second round playoff game against Fort Bend (Texas) Travis. Lakeland (Fla.) Christian running back T.J. Simmons, a UCLA commit, could return to action this weekend against Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy. Monrovia (Calif.) and receiver target Octavius Spencer play Hacienda Heights (Calif.) Los Altos in quarterfinal action. San Leandro (Calif.) and UCLA commit Stephen Johnson have completed their season. Herriman (Utah) and UCLA commit Andre James have completed their season. Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis and UCLA commit Fred Ulu-Perry have completed their season. Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward and UCLA commit Breland Brandt have completed their season. Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol and UCLA commit Cassius Peat have completed their season. Orange (Calif.) Lutheran and UCLA target Keisean Lucier-South have completed their season. Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton linebacker and UCLA target Osa Masina have completed their season. Lodi (Calif.) Tokay and UCLA commit L.J. Reed have completed their season. Orange (Calif.) Coast College and UCLA commit Zach Bateman have completed their season. La Mirada (Calif.) and UCLA target Tony Brown have completed their season.
