Malik Jefferson, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound outside linebacker from Mesquite (Texas) Poteet is one of the most highly recruited players in the country.
He has racked up offers from virtually every major program in the nation, but on Monday he release his final top seven, as he approaches a pre-planned December 19th decision date.
His final seven were (in no particular order): Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU and UCLA.
Jefferson explained his thought process behind his cut-down.
"To the colleges and recruiters and the fine institutions you represent, thanks for believing that program and a qualified student for your university," Jefferson reported via Twitter.
"For the ones I wasn't able to visit due to financial constraints I wasn't able to visit your school and I was granted five official visits, if your school does not appear in the list it's not a reflection of your school."
"I have enjoyed talking to coaches and creating relationships, thank you all," Jefferson finished.
Jefferson will officially visit UCLA this weekend, when the Bruins take on Stanford. He has already officially visited Stanford, Ohio State, and LSU, so after his UCLA visit it will leave him with more official visit available.
Jefferson is rated as a Scout five-star prospect, the No. 1 rated outside linebacker nationally and the No. 2 overall prospect in the Scout100.
He is an Under Armour All-American.
