Wicker Talks ASU Visit

Dec. 2 -- Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive lineman Joseph Wicker took an official visit to Arizona State over the weekend and said the Sun Devils definitely moved up his list...

Joseph Wicker has already taken an official visit to Texas Tech and was back on the road this past weekend to check out Arizona State.

"I had a great visit and loved everything about it," Wicker said. "The best part was probably the game atmosphere and watching the team play. They started off a little slow but got it going in the second half. The fans are crazy there and the overall environment was a lot of fun.

"I knew a ton of players there, I couldn't believe how many guys I already knew and they all love it there. Tashon Smallwood was my host but I hung out with all the players and really enjoyed myself. I saw the dorms, the whole campus and I loved the city of Tempe. It's a lot like Los Angels only hotter but I'll take the heat over the cold any day. I like the coaches a lot as well. I'm real tight with Coach Shipp, the DL coach, he's a real cool guy and a very good coach."

Wicker said the visit moved the Sun Devils way up his list.

"They're right there with UCLA at the top," Wicker said. "The trip really exceeded my expectations and was even better than I expected. It was funny, we watched the UCLA-USC game Saturday night and all the players wanted USC to win but UCLA dominated. I was supposed to visit UCLA this weekend but we play Friday night so I'll have to do that another time.

"I haven't set up any other trips right now but I think my last three will be to Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Miami. I don't think I'll take an official to UCLA since I can do an unofficial and plus I've been there already. Right now, I still think my decision will probably be around Signing Day."
