Two Players Leaving Program

Dec. 4 -- Two players are leaving the UCLA football program, according to sources...

Freshman linebacker Zach Whitley has been dismissed from the team due to an internal team issue, according to sources. Whitley, who played briefly at the beginning of the season, was expected to compete for a starting role next year at inside linebacker, with Eric Kendricks graduating.

Whitley was originally a commitment to Alabama before flipping to the Bruins in January of this year. He participated in spring practice, and some within the program thought his athleticism rivaled that of Myles Jack. He suffered a concussion at the beginning of fall camp that seemed to stunt his upward trajectory.

Redshirt freshman safety/linebacker Tyler Foreman will also leave the program with the intention to transfer. Foreman switched to playing nickel linebacker this year, but has been unable to see the field much at all. There is no word yet on where he intends to transfer. Foreman came into the program as a four-star safety prospect, but was unable to find footing in the depth chart.

We'll have more on offseason personnel developments as they break.
