UCLA Prospect Preview: Week Fourteen

Dec. 5 -- A look at the games this weekend involving UCLA commits and recruits in Week Fourteen...

Game of the Week: Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco vs. Corona (Calif.) Centennial (CIF-SS Pac-5 Finals)
Its a rematch of the high scoring CIF Open Division SoCal Regional from a year ago (and SoCal's last two Open Division participants) in the CIF-SS Pac-5 title game at Angel Stadium. Bosco is led by the nation's top quarterback, Josh Rosen, UCLA's quarterback commit. The Braves have a slew of stars in their sophomore and junior classes too, namely four-star 2016 running back Sean McGrew and D.J. Morgan, a safety/receiver. The Huskies have overcome injuries to 2016 running back J.J. Taylor (appendicitis) and Cal receiver commit Greyson Bankhead. But that has allowed standout junior receiver Javon McKinley, who has a UCLA offer, to really emerge in the past few weeks (averaging over 20 yards a catch in the playoffs). Oregon corner commit Jihree Stewart leads the secondary for the Ducks. The winner of this game likely gets the SoCal Open Division spot in the CIF State Open Division Bowl Game in two weeks, which would be Bosco's second in a row or Centennial's second in the last three years.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman vs. Sparks (Nev.) Reed (Nevada State Championship)
The Gaels are the No. 1 team in the country by Scout and continue the Nevada state playoffs this weekend in the D1 State Finals. The big talk is if their head coach, Tony Sanchez, is coaching his final game for the Gaels, as he's rumored to be taking over at UNLV as their head coach. UCLA assistant coaches Adrian Klemm and Taylor Mazzone are expected at this game to see five-star committed tight end Alize Jones, the West's top player at the position. Gorman also has UCLA recruit Cordell Broadus at receiver and 2017 quarterback Tate Martell, a Washington commit, now completely running the Gaels offense. Another 2017 four-star is receiver Tyjon Lindsey, a versatile all-purpose weapon.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy vs. Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage (Florida 3A State Championship)
TCA and UCLA commit Victor Alexander, along with teammates like Jeff Holland, Ben Edwards and Kevin Tolliver, will be in action at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando for the Florida 3A state championship, with the Conquerors aiming for their second straight state title.

Manvel (Texas) vs. Cypress (Texas) Woods (Texas State Quarterfinals)
Manvel continues to stay unbeaten with UCLA committed defensive back William Lockett a big part of it. They'll take on Katy this weekend in the state quarterfinals and Katy has Oklahoma commit Rodney Anderson at running back.
