UCLA To The Alamo

Dec. 7 -- UCLA has been selected to play in the Alamo Bowl on January 2nd against Kansas State out of the Big XII...

The Bruins are headed to the Alamo Bowl for their first January bowl game in 15 years, according to sources. After putting together a 9-3 season that fell a bit below their preseason expectations, UCLA will still head to its best bowl game since the 1999 Rose Bowl.

UCLA will be matched up against Kansas State, which went 9-3 this year and finished the season by losing to Baylor this weekend. The Wildcats finished at No. 11 in the College Football Playoff Ranking, just outside of the top ten, which would have guaranteed them a spot in the New Years' Six bowls. UCLA, ranked No. 14, fell from No. 7 to No. 15 after losing its final regular season game 31-10 to Stanford, which knocked the Bruins from playoff contention.

UCLA is 1-1 in bowl games under Jim Mora, but won last year against Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl 42-12. If UCLA were to beat Kansas State in the Alamo Bowl, it would mark the first back-to-back 10 win season for UCLA since 1997-98.
