Holiday Planning Signing Day Decision

Dec. 15 -- San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills defensive back Dechaun Holiday was supposed to take his first official visit of the year this past weekend to Oklahoma but wasn't able to make it out to Norman...

Dechaun Holiday is coming off a big senior season that saw him earn San Diego Defensive Player of the Year honors. He was rarely tested but had two interceptions, both of which he returned for touchdowns and routinely locked up his side of the field. At 6-2, 210 pounds, Holiday has great size for a corner and depending on how much weight he puts on, could stay at corner or bulk up in to a safety.

On the recruiting front, Holiday has yet to take an official visit this year despite having a few set up at different times. This past weekend he was expected to check out Oklahoma.

"All the flights were delayed and I couldn't get out there," Holiday said. "I would have missed too much of the weekend so I'm going to try and definitely get out there in January. At this point, I'm not planning to commit any time soon, I want to wait until Signing Day so I have a lot of time.

"There's only three open weekends for me to visit in January so I need to get working on setting up some dates. Right now, I'm pretty sure I'll visit UCLA that last weekend before Signing Day and like I said, I would like to get out to Oklahoma. Other than that, I'm not sure where I'll go just yet."

Holiday had home visits with USC, Washington, Arizona, California, Arizona State and UCLA. His last official visit will likely come from that list.

"They all had the same message for me, they all want a big corner and feel like I could be that guy," Holiday said. "USC came in first and Coach Heyward said they would love to have me. From then on, it was pretty much a new school every day. I'm still enjoying the recruiting process but it is becoming a little tiresome too.

"If I knew where I wanted to go, I would probably have already committed by now. I need to take some trips first though and then by Signing Day, I should have a good idea of what I want to do. UCLA is recruiting me the hardest still and I'm very comfortable with them but I still need to play this out and see where the best fit for me is."
