Recruits Announcing This Week

Dec. 15 -- Several big-time UCLA prospects, including a couple of five-stars, will announce their college decisions this week...

It's going to be a big week for announcements -- for UCLA, easily the biggest until the All-American games in a few weeks, with 4 four-stars and 2 five-stars announcing their commitments. Here's the primer for the week:

Monday, Dec. 15th

Cameron Scarlett, the #1 running back in the west from Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic.

With UCLA still a serious contender for the nation's #1 running back, Sotonye Jamabo, it's just not the right timing for UCLA and Scarlett and Stanford is the long-time favorite. Our guess: Stanford

Kieffer Longson, the OL from San Ramon (Calif.) Dougherty Valley.

He will announce his decision at 8:00 A.M. UCLA leads, but we have heard that BYU made a big, late push, and it wouldn't be surprising if he chose BYU. Our guess: UCLA

Wednesday, Dec. 17th

Christian Kirk, the No. 1 receiver in the west, from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro.

ASU appears to be the leader, but there isn't a lot of solid information coming out of Kirk's camp now. Auburn and Texas A&M have both been mentioned as being factors in his recruitment, and UCLA, as his first offer, can't necessarily be counted out. Our guess: ASU

Friday, Dec. 19th

Malik Jefferson, LB, Mesquite (Tex.) Poteeet
DeAndre McNeal, ATH, Mesquite (Tex.) Poteet.

Jefferson and McNeal took their official visits to UCLA this weekend and from all accounts it gave the duo something to really think about it. Many Texas sources have at least given UCLA a chance for both of them, but the prevailing sentiment is that it will probably be Texas A&M. Our very soft guess: Texas A&M (both)

Tony Brown, WR, La Mirada (Calif.)

He visited Colorado last weekend and potential early playing time there made an impression on him. Most close to the recruitment think, though, he'll still opt for hometown favorite UCLA. Our guess: UCLA
