UCLA Offers Florida Receiver

Dec. 18 -- The Bruins put their hat in the rink for the very speedy playmaker with big offers...

UCLA offered a scholarship to Ryan Davis, the receiver from Lakewood (Fla.) St. Petersburg.

Davis is ranked the #52 wide receiver in the nation, but his offer sheet belies that ranking. He has been adding some very high-level offers recently, including Alabama in late November when they saw his senior tape. Recently he listed Florida, Florida State, Maryland, Kentucky, Texas Texas, Kansas State, Ole Miss, West Virginia along with Alabama.

Davis played quarterback in high school, but it's expected that the 5-11, 170-pound playmaker will be able to make an easy transition to receiver, with very good hands and ball skills.

Scout.com's Southwest Recruiting Expert Jamie Newberg said of Davis: "I have watched this kid for three years now - lightning in a bottle. Quicker than fast. Unreal in space. And he can catch the ball."

According to sources, Davis initially reached out to UCLA and UCLA reciprocated with an offer.

UCLA is in search of fast playmakers on offense, and Davis athletically fills the bill.
