O-D Bowl Interview: Du'Vonta Lampkin

Dec. 30 -- Scout caught up with four-star Cypress Falls (Tex.) defensive tackle Du'Vonta Lampkin. Find out his mindset heading into the O-D All-American Bowl and how firm he is with his Texas commitment...

Du'Vonta Lampkin is an imposing force. At 6-4 295 pounds, Lampkin is one of the biggest prospects at the Offense Defense All-American Bowl this week down in Orlando. The Scout 300 defensive tackle is excited for his opportunity this week and is looking forward to the competition these next few days.

"I know a lot of dudes come here to relax and celebrate their accomplishments," Lampkin began. "I get that and am totally with that, but I'm also here to get better and work my ass off. Hell yeah I'm looking to put guys on their back. This is football. I'm just excited to be down here and am truly honored. There's a lot of good players down here and we all got here the same way, hard work."

Lampkin has been committed to Texas since the end of the summer, and is still firm to the Longhorns. With that being said, the No. 24 DT in the country is still potentially taking a last minute visit.

"I'm solid to Texas," Lampkin stated. "I'm planning to be a Longhorn in 2015. I love the program and think there are some big things coming to UT. I may or may not take a visit to UCLA at the end of January. I don't know if I would go there, but I grew up watching the Bruins and they recently offered, so I may check it out. I know they are a really good program and I just like the school. If I went out there, I think it would be January 30th. That visit isn't set in stone, but I'm thinking about it, for sure."
