Two Announcements Friday

Jan. 23 -- Two big prospects still left on UCLA's recruiting board will announce their decision today...

Osa Masina, the five-star linebacker prospect from Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton, and Ryan Newsome, the four-star wide receiver from Aledo (Tex.), will make their commitments public Friday.

It's not anticipated, however, that either will pick up and put on a UCLA hat.

Masina has said he's down to UCLA, USC and Arizona State. UCLA was leading for a long time, but the tide turned after he took his official visit to USC in December.

Newsome is down to UCLA and Texas. Sources are indicating that he prefers UCLA but that a good deal of local pressure, especially from his family, will more than likely motivate him to pick the Longhorns.

Masina will make his announcement at 10:40 a.m. PST, at his high school.

Newsome will make his choice at 1:00 p.m. PST, also at his high school.

Scout.com will have in-person coverage of both announcements.
