Anaheim (Calif.) Servite linebacker Jack Savage is a top ten middle linebacker out West in the class of 2015.
But a shoulder injury his junior year, which required off-season surgery, slowed down his recruitment.
Still, he had a good senior season, recording 80 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, forced three fumbles and had a sack and an interception.
With mostly FCS offers and some Mountain West interest, Savage decided to stay close to home.
"I'm playing for UCLA," said Savage. "I accepted a preferred walk-on. I'm pumped up."
Savage will get to be near his family by going to UCLA, which includes a sister at UCLA and of course his father, John Savage, who's the head coach of the Bruins' baseball team, the 2013 College World Series Champions.
"My family is beyond ecstatic," said Savage.
While his dad has made his name in baseball, his grandfather, Chris Ault, is one of the most successful college football coaches in history, a hall of famer after his coaching career at Nevada.
As a preferred walk-on, Savage will enroll in June when the class of 2015 signees enroll.
"And I'm pretty sure I'll take an official visit," said Savage. "I'm really excited about it all."
With his college future now set, Savage said he's glad to be done with it.
"I'm very relieved," said Savage. "It's the best feeling in the world."
