Alexander Decommits from UCLA

Jan. 31 -- Three-star linebacker Victor Alexander flipped his commitment from UCLA to Georgia Tech on Saturday...

Three-star linebacker Victor Alexander, who had been committed to UCLA for about a year, committed to Georgia Tech on Saturday, he confirmed via text.

Alexander had told us as recently as Tuesday that he was 100% committed to UCLA, and that he was taking visits just to see more schools. The flip, though a surprise in the short term, was one that many anticipated early on in his recruitment. The linebacker out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian gained much more attention from local schools after committing to UCLA, and the thought was that the increased local attention would cause a flip at some point.

Alexander's move does throw linebacker recruiting into uncertainty. Now, UCLA doesn't have a true inside linebacker committed, and would need to secure Montezuma (Ga.) Macon County linebacker Roquan Smith to shore up the inside.

Alexander is the second decommitment in January for UCLA, with five-star tight end Alize Jones decommitting earlier this month.
