What's Smith say about UCLA?

Where is UCLA on Roquan Smith's list? He was on their campus this weekend, just days before signing day, and he gives you the latest here...

That time is coming for Roquan Smith.

The Scout 100 linebacker out of Montezuma (Ga.) Macon County has made it clear that he will not announce his decision until signing day, that day is Wednesday, just three days from now.

He has stayed true to his words without naming a leader and he is closing in on a big decision and it will be Georgia, Michigan, Texas A&M, and UCLA.

"It is a tight race right now," Smith said Sunday afternoon. "I still do not know where I am going right now. I plan to make my decision on Tuesday."

Smith is set to announce his decision on ESPNU Wednesday morning between 10-11am ET, so he is ready to get back home, discuss everything with those close to him, and figure out the right school for him.

UCLA made their final push this weekend.

"I really feel wanted by UCLA and they were the first school to offer me, so that showed me something early.

"The relationships I have with the coaches at UCLA is good and I like the education they offer, the top level of football, and I love the weather too.

"I was riding around L.A. Sunday morning before the visit ended just enjoying the weather. It is nice out there."

Myles Jack and Kenny Orjioke hosted the four-star senior on his visit and Smith "loved it" on the UCLA campus. "I related well to the players there. Their linebackers are from all over and I like that. I had a great time around the players."

Smith is well aware that Eric Kendricks won the Butkus Award in 2014, but the coaches, of course mentioned that to him.

Jim Mora, Jeff Ulbrich, and the Bruin staff did not have to sell their program hard to the 6-foot-2, 213 pounder.

He has been there before and he has done a lot of homework.

"I already know about UCLA, so there was nothing new that I learned this visit," said Smith. "I know about what they have going on and I like it there a lot.

"What they are doing is good and what the coaches have done with their linebackers recently speaks for itself. They did not have to say too much too me -- I already had a good idea of how things go there."

It is now just three days away from that day when Smith will reveal the school he feels is right for him. He is not going to name schools in any type of order, but it definitely appears UCLA has done all the right things to give the Bruins a real shot.

"They were the first school that offered me and they showed me I could play at this level," said Smith. "I am very interested in UCLA, so I have a big decision to make."

Smith is the No. 1 inside linebacker and No 62 overall prospect in the country according to Scout.
