Nathan Meadors is one of the top athletes in the West region. He played quarterback and defensive back this past season but projects best on the defensive side of the ball. He has safety size and corner athleticism and could flip between both positions at the next level.
"It was incredible, I loved it there," Meadors said. "I've been to UCLA before but this was different because they were able to spoil it and it was fun just sitting back and soaking everything in. I love the environment at UCLA. It's L.A, it's Hollywood and being on the campus with the other players and recruits, I really felt at home.
"I love the campus and the new renovations they're doing to the football facilities. I love the coaches and spent a lot of time with Coach Martin and Coach Mora. They're funny guys and I'm very comfortable with the whole staff. Ishmael Adams was my host and he's a real cool guy. The players took me around Westwood and showed me everything. I saw what it would be like if I went to UCLA and I think I would fit in really well there."
Meadors said the coaches talked about his role in the defense and where they see him fitting in.
"They like me at free safety," Meadors said. "They said if I come in and ready, I'll have a chance to compete for playing time. They have played a lot of true freshman over the last few years. UCLA is a really good school and just being around so many great athletes was a great experience.
"I was there with guys like Dechaun Holiday, Colin Samuel, Joseph Wicker and a few others and we talked about what it would be like if we played at the same college. I like those guys a lot so we'll see what happens. I'm planning to make my decision on Signing Day on Fox Sports so I have the next few days to figure out what I want to do. I have some great options so we'll see how it goes."
