Hill Earns Offer From UCLA

Feb. 18 -- Jalen Hill is having an impressive sophomore season and it's led to more scholarship offers for the Top 35 2017 prospect...

One of the top posts nationally in 2017 comes from Corona (Calif.) Centennial in 6-foot-9, 205-pound Jalen Hill.

The sophomore has a nice frame with good length and terrific feet. He plays very hard, can defend both the four and five, blocks shots, rebounds, and is quickly improving as a scorer around the basket and facing up.

"I've been working out a lot and trying to improve," Hill said. "My defense is really sticking out. If my offense isn't working I can always play good defense. I've been working on my shot but my defense and hustling have been good."

Despite being a young player - Hill recently turned 15, making him a year young for his class - he already has an understanding for the importance of defending well.

"I can always play good defense," he said. "I just take advantage of other people's disadvantages."

You never how quickly a promising big man will turn from prospect to player but Hill has already made that transition, which he attributes to his work ethic.

"I'm not surprised because I've been working a lot," Hill said. "I expect a lot from myself. I need to just keep working."

Hill listed offers from California, SMU, Kansas State, New Mexico State, New Mexico and Oregon, with his most recent offer coming from UCLA.

"That was a great offer, just like my other ones," Hill said of the Bruins. "It's on the West Coast and they have sent the most players to the league. But any offer is a great offer."

Even though Hill is happy with how his recruitment going, his focus is on continuing to develop on the court for now.

"It's crazy but I'm more focused on my game than anything," he said. "It's all about my game. The offers will keep coming if I keep working. I can't focus on that stuff. To me, I haven't done that much and need to keep doing more."
